***UPDATE** Thanks so much for all the support, emails, tweets and kind words about my work! Sadly, I didn’t make it to round 3 of the Lilla Roger’s Global Talent Search. You should check out the beautiful work that did make it from the six finalist here. After the let down, I took an honest look at my piece and see why I didn’t make the cut. Once again,I have a lot of work to do and will keep trucking along. It’s hard being a late bloomer sometimes.
Here is my second illustration for Lilla Roger’s GTA. The assignment was to create a farmer’s market tote with a fall theme or activity. I chose canning as a theme and tried to create something witty. The text was a tough call and I went back in forth between…
Carrot-”Hey baby, I’m local… Fig- “You’re so fresh!” vs. Carrot-”Hey baby, I’m local… Fig- “Put a lid on it!”
In the end, I went with the friendlier exchange. There will be a gallery of the semi-finalists work posted on Sept.2nd and the judges are top art directors at Chronicle Books and Anthropologie to name a few!! On September 6th, Lilla will announce the top six and they will go onto round three. The work posted on social media from the other other finalists is incredible and honestly, it would take a miracle to make it any further. Despite all that, I’m really happy that I put my work out there and tried.
Product and surface design is something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. This whole experience has given me encouragement that my work could go in that direction!
